The Early-Bird Deadline for NISO Plus 2026 in Baltimore Is Approaching
As you plan for the year ahead, we hope you’ll add registering for NISO Plus Baltimore (February 16–18) to your to-do list! Start 2026 on a high note by joining us and collaborating with community members on some of the biggest challenges in scholarly communications—and by signing up by Wednesday, January 14 to take advantage of early-bird registration rates.
Here are just some of our program highlights:
- Two workshop-style, half-day pre-conferences focusing on AI in scholarly publishing. The first will cover provisioning AI access to content; the second addresses AI usage tracking. This is a great opportunity to shape the community conversation exploring best practices in these critical areas!
- A full-day pre-conference focused on the Journal Article Tag Suite (JATS)! For the second year running, NISO Plus will host JATS-Con, with sessions dedicated to the use or non-use of JATS and its extensions.
- An opening keynote address from Brandie Nonnecke, expert in information and communication law, governance, and policy and Senior Director of Policy at Americans for Responsible Innovation
- The Miles Conrad Award and Lecture, to be delivered by 2026 awardee Alondra P. Nelson of the Institute for Advanced Study
- Interactive sessions on metadata, research integrity, identity and access, open research infrastructure, and AI (governance, usage metrics, training AI systems, and use cases)
- Two sessions dedicated to information standards updates. This year NISO released drafts resulting from three important projects: the latest revision of KBART, the Open Access Business Processes Recommended Practice, and the Collaborative Collections Lifecycle Infrastructure Recommended Practice. Join us to get the latest on these and other standards initiatives.
For additional details, view the conference program. Thanks to our generous sponsors—Access Innovations, Bowker, Edaptive Technologies, ASME, Emerald Publishing, OpenAthens, Project MUSE, Silverchair, and SPIE Digital Library, we have been able to keep registration at 2024 rates, and deeper discounts are available for NISO members and groups.
We hope you’ll join us next February for this special event. In the meantime, be sure to register by January 14 for the best rates, and book your hotel room soon!
