Jeff Jarvis Is the Closing Keynote Speaker for NISO Plus Global/Online 2026

We are delighted to announce that Jeff Jarvis will deliver the closing keynote at our upcoming virtual conference, NISO Plus Global/Online 2026! The talk is scheduled for Thursday, September 17, 2026, at 3:15 pm EDT (US/Canada).

Jeff Jarvis is the Emeritus Tow Professor of Journalism Innovation at CUNY's Newmark Graduate School of Journalism, a Visiting Professor at Stony Brook University, and a Distinguished Fellow at Montclair State University. Widely known for his commentary on media, the Internet, and technology, his latest book, Hot Type: The Magnificent Machine that Gave Birth to Mass Media and Drove Mark Twain Mad (Bloomsbury, 2026), explores how the development of the  Linotype machine in the nineteenth century transformed publishing. Other titles by Jarvis include Magazine and The Gutenberg Parenthesis (both Bloomsbury, 2023). He is also editor of a new series published by Bloomsbury, Intelligence: AI & Humanity, and cohosts two AI podcasts, Intelligent Machines and AI Inside.

“We are very excited to hear from Jeff Jarvis at NISO Plus,” said Todd Carpenter, NISO Executive Director. “ At this critical moment in the history of the information community, he’s an ideal speaker for a conference exploring ways to address how new technologies are shaping the future of scholarly publishing. We’re looking forward to hearing him bring his expertise to bear on AI, authorship, and more.”

We encourage those interested in hearing Jeff Jarvis’s talk to join us next month for NISO Plus Global/Online and remember to register by next Tuesday, August 11 for the best rates.
