Sharesly Rodriguez

AI Librarian

Sharesly Rodriguez is an academic librarian and innovator at San José State University, serving as the university’s first Artificial Intelligence (AI) Librarian at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library. A graduate of San José State’s Master of Library and Information Science program (MLIS ’18), she joined the library staff in 2020 and previously worked as a User Experience (UX) Librarian, where she helped develop and launch the library’s AI-powered chatbot tools that support research and information access. In her current role, Rodriguez leads efforts to integrate AI technologies into library services, advance AI literacy across campus, and support students and faculty in navigating the ethical and practical challenges of emerging AI systems. 

In addition to her work on AI tools like KingbotGPT, Rodriguez is a principal investigator on research projects analyzing responsible AI adoption in higher education and contributes to campus workshops and resources that help demystify AI for the university community. Her leadership reflects a blend of technical development, user-focused service, and a commitment to responsible, inclusive engagement with artificial intelligence in academic settings.
