Marie McVeigh

Head of Editorial Integrity, Web of Science

Marie ensures the selection and curation of Web of Science content is completed rigorously and consistently; she investigates ethical questions on content, publishing and citation metrics by day, by night, she is a Citation Ninja.

Marie joined Clarivate in 2017 as part of the development team for Journal Citation Reports™ and has recently moved to the editorial team to extend a career-long interest in bibliographic and bibliometric research for the maintenance of the integrity of the scholarly record as reflected in the Web of Science resources.

Prior to Clarivate, she had roles in primary publishing, in A&I Analytics providers, and in author services, but her career began at the Institute for Scientific Information™ (ISI) as the Life Sciences Selections Editor. She participated in the first launch of Web of Science, led production and development of the Journal Citation Reports™ annual data, and the surveillance and review of citation metrics. At ISI, she studied under Dr. Eugene Garfield and continues active research in bibliometrics, ethics in publishing and citation metrics, and the scholarly value of citation indexing.
