Ivan Oransky

Co-Founder

Ivan Oransky, MD, is the vice president and global editorial director of MedPage Today, co-founder of the MacArthur Foundation- and Arnold Foundation-funded Retraction Watch, and Distinguished Writer in Residence at New York University's Arthur Carter Journalism Institute. He previously was executive editor of Reuters Health and held editorial positions at Scientific American and The Scientist. A 2012 TEDMED speaker, he is the recipient of the 2015 John P. McGovern Award for excellence in biomedical communication from the American Medical Writers Association. 

He has written for numerous publications, including Nature, The New Republic, and The New York Times. Oransky earned his BA at Harvard and his MD at the New York University School of Medicine. While a student, he served as executive editor of The Harvard Crimson and as co-editor-in-chief of the medical student section of JAMA. Oransky is also a clinical assistant professor of medicine at the New York University School of Medicine, and serves on the board of directors and as vice president of the Association of Health Care Journalists.
