We are delighted to announce that Hipertexto-Netizen, a technology and services provider with offices in Mexico City and Bogota, is the first technology and services provider to join NISO's Voting Member community.
Hipertexto-Netizen serves over 600 institutions and organizations in 14 countries. It offers a wide variety of services to publishers, content creators, and end users, including editorial and content hosting services, eBook distribution, and metadata management services. The company is also the host of Colombia's first online bookstore. By joining NISO, Hipertexto-Netizen gains a greater voice in the standards process and an opportunity to represent the priorities of their institutional and corporate clients. Todd Carpenter, NISO Executive Director, stated,
We are excited to welcome Hipertexto–Netizen to the community of NISO voting members. As we work to develop standards and best practices that respond to the diverse needs of the global information community, they will bring a new and valuable perspective to our work.
Jaime Iván Hurtado, CEO and Founder of Hipertexto-Netizen, added,
For years we have worked tirelessly on the strategic use and importance of standards for hundreds of Ibero-American publishers and libraries, with the power of metadata as the primary source. Now we want to be where those rules are written, at a time when, in addition, we develop key projects for the AI era that connect with these purposes.
We were fortunate to have Jaime among the participants at our September NISO Plus Global/Online conference, and he has provided a detailed writeup of the meeting for Spanish-language readers on the Hipertexto-Netizen blog. His post also addresses the importance of information standards, the decision to join NISO, and how the company plans to share news about NISO's work in his region.
