Coalition Announces Strategic Plan for Strengthening Research Data Infrastructure

The Coalition for Resilient Research Data Infrastructure (CRRDI) has released its draft strategic plan and is now seeking community feedback.

The CCRDI was formed by the Center for Open Science (COS) late last year and is made up of research data experts and enthusiasts from across the information community. Their goal: to address the need for stronger infrastructure that supports the integrity and preservation of research data. 

COS elaborated on the rationale for forming the group and selecting its members on its blog:

CRRDI is meant to bring together the organizations that operate this infrastructure, the funders and policymakers who resource and shape it, and the researchers, entrepreneurs, and communities who depend on it. Its purpose is to address two questions: how do we enable a more resilient research data ecosystem that is resistant to single points of failure? And how do we coordinate across a distributed system to address that challenge together?

The plan addresses three critical areas: data repositories, sustainability and governance, and developing a community-wide plan for sustaining and maintaining research data infrastructure.
