Registration Is Open for Our 2026 NISO Plus Global/Online Conference

June 2026

We are pleased to announce that registration for our NISO Plus Global/Online conference (September 16–17, 2026) is now open! The two-day virtual meeting will focus on bringing professionals—representatives from libraries, publishers, technology and service providers, government agencies, and more—together to focus on some of the most pressing challenges facing the information community

For 2026, the NISO Plus Planning Committee has selected a theme, “Connecting Human Futures and Intelligent Systems through Standards,” for the conference. The committee wanted to recognize the growing importance and impact of AI in the academic ecosystem, while also reminding everyone that it’s critical for our AI-related standards work to keep humans front, center, and in the loop. Topics we plan to cover in our program include accessibility, research integrity, metadata, AI transparency, AI usage statistics, managing AI agents, and more.

As always, our goal for NISO Plus Global/Online is to foster discussions that yield ideas for potential solutions to shared challenges. To that end, our conference program will incorporate interactivity throughout the two days. This year, each session will be followed by breakout discussions in order to allow a greater number of attendees to participate. We’ll use these discussions to seed ideas for future NISO projects. And our standards update sessions will also include built-in time for discussion, allowing participants to offer feedback on next steps and potential revisions.

Our meeting would not be possible without our generous sponsors, who have helped us to keep registration rates flat over 2025. Thank you to Cadmore Media (our platform partner), Figshare (our slide repository), the American Society for Mechanical Engineers, and Silverchair. If you’re interested in joining them in supporting NISO Plus Global/Online, visit our online form to review your options and sign up.

Discounts on registration are available for NISO members, groups, LMIC residents, and more. We hope to see you online in September, and in the meantime, be sure to sign up by August 11 to take advantage of early bird rates!
