AI and Machine Learning in Scholarly Publishing
Our second NISO Plus Forum is starting to take shape! Happening in person on Tuesday, October 3, in Washington, DC, this year’s timely theme is AI and Machine Learning in Scholarly Publishing: Services, Data, and Ethics. Our facilitator is Jonathan Clark, Managing Agent, DOI Foundation, and NISO Board Member. He’ll be joined by a group of “provocateurs” who will keep the conversation going with brief, thought-provoking statements about AI and its projected impact on the industry.
A unique aspect of the event is its highly interactive format—no sages on stages here—with attendees participating in small group discussions. What also sets the NISO Plus Forum apart is its focus on producing outputs that will ultimately impact the community more broadly—ideas generated by the event will lead to additional sessions at NISO’s February Plus conference as well as future NISO projects. As NISO’s Director of Strategic Initiatives, Jason Griffey, states, “Conversations at the NISO Plus Forum will lead to real decisions about AI and its role in the industry. For those interested in the challenges and opportunities presented by the latest developments in AI, it’s an event that’s not to be missed.”
The NISO Plus Forum is geared toward information professionals across all functions and organization types—libraries, publishers, service providers, and more—who have an interest in this timely topic, as well as the functional expertise to understand the challenges and opportunities for both their organization and the wider community.
