The shift to electronic publishing and the digital dissemination of information has accelerated and fundamentally expanded the landscape of scholarly communication. Interest is rapidly growing in underlying data, procedural processes, workflows, software, data visualization, and computer simulation. The “article of the future” is so much more than a single object. It is a network of inter-related content forms.
