The initial release of Manifold, a free open-source publishing platform for media rich book content, was announced on March 30. Currently, there are 3 installations of the platform in operation -- the University of Minnesota Press, City University of New York and the Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies at Cornell. According to the press release, the mobile friendly app is compatible with smartphones, tablets, notebooks, and desktops, offering an immersive reading experience, integration with social media, and an opportunity to engage with other readers in educational and small-group settings.
