The theme of this year’s virtual meeting is “Connecting Human Futures and Intelligent Systems through Standards,” reflecting our commitment to community values and ethics as we leverage new technologies to create efficiencies and make research more accessible and discoverable for all.
The program will address a variety of timely topics, including the following (to name just a few!):
Copyright and licensing in the age of AI
Federated identity
Managing AI access to content
Multilingualism in publishing
PIDs and metadata
Restoring trust in the scholarly record
Tracking provenance, attribution, and usage in AI systems
AI technologies and their impact on scholarly communications will touch on many if not most of the sessions, and where appropriate, we will bring relevant NISO standards to bear on the discussion, providing participants with an opportunity to share feedback on our work. Standards projects covered during the conference include the Communication of Retractions, Removals, and Expressions of Concern Recommended Practice, Phase III of the Knowledge Bases and Related Tools Recommended Practice, the new Trust Markers Working Group, the US National PID Strategy, and more. The conference program will also feature two exciting keynotes, with announcements coming soon!
Thanks to our generous sponsors, we have kept registration rates flat over 2025, and discounts are available for NISO members, groups, and residents of LMIC. For early-bird discounts, sign up by August 11.
