Trevor Owens is Chief Research Officer at the American Institute of Physics (AIP), where he leads AIP Research, bringing together expertise in statistical research, history, policy, culture, and library and archives programs to advance thought leadership across the physical sciences community.

Previously, Owens served as Director of Digital Services at the Library of Congress and held leadership roles at the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media. He is widely recognized for his work in digital preservation, cultural memory, and the future of libraries and archives. In 2022, he served as a Fulbright Specialist with the National Library of Kosovo, and in 2021 received the American Library Association's Frederick G. Kilgour Award for Research in Library and Information Technology.

Owens is the author of several books, including The Theory and Craft of Digital Preservation, an award-winning work recognized by both the American Library Association and the Society of American Archivists. His research and leadership focus on ensuring the long-term preservation, accessibility, and trustworthiness of cultural and scholarly records in the digital age.
