David Weinreich serves as Director of Policy and Government Affairs, for the International Association of
STM Publishers (STM), where he has been engaged for more than a decade. In support of Advancing
Trusted Research, he has led the scholarly publishing community in responses to policies that impact
scientific communication, and supported efforts on data sharing and licensing, particularly in the context
of AI. He has contributed to STM’s policies and documents on open science, research integrity, AI, and
data sharing and supported STM’s efforts to provide transparent data about the publishing ecosystem.
His broad experience includes work in Congress and the Executive Branch on a wide range of issues, as
well as faculty positions in mathematics and work in science education and science policy. He holds a
Ph.D. in Mathematics.
