Abstract: ISQ Guest Content Editor, Ted Fons, presented Gildas Illien with a series of questions about the work that the Bibliothèque national de France is undertaking to transform bibliographic data exchange and to get his insight on the trends in the European library environment. Illien discusses the need for a new framework for bibliographic data exchange, what the BnF has already done to transform the way they express their bibliographic data, what European libraries have been focusing their efforts on in the past five years related to metadata management, and what the focus should be in the next two years.
