Denise Stephens Named as Dean of Libraries, University of Oklahoma

#OULibraries is excited to welcome Denise Stephens as the new Dean of the University Libraries! Dean Stephens will be joining us this May from Washington University in St. Louis and is an alumna of OU.

Per the full text of the OU announcement dated January 20, pending OU Board of Regents’ approval, Stephens will assume the new role as of May 24, 2021. 

She has participated as a speaker in NISO educational events upon numerous occasions. 

In addition to her current role of vice provost and university librarian at Washington University in St. Louis, Stephens serves on the Center for Research Libraries Global Resources Network and the Greater Western Library Association Board of Directors and as the chair of the Digital Public Library of America Board of Directors. She has been published in numerous peer-reviewed academic journals, including Library Trends, Journal of Library Administration and Journal of Academic Librarianship.

Stephens earned her Master of Library and Information Studies and a B.A. in political science, both from the University of Oklahoma.
