About the Forum
What kind of sea change do ERMs represent? For libraries that haven't yet purchased an ERM, why might you need one and what questions should you ask when selecting an ERM? How can you manage staff workflow with ERMs, when doing so often means adding to an already large workload?
Highlighting the issues of implementers, the National Information Standards Organization (NISO) will host a two-day forum on electronic resource management. Presentations designed to answer pressing questions about the impact of ERMs on internal management and workflow will come from all major sectors of the NISO community.
The how-to character of the NISO E-Resource Management Forum: The What, Why, and How for Managing E-Resources will provide practical guidance both to librarians currently implementing electronic resources management systems and those weighing ERM options. Subscription agents, ILS vendors, and publishers will also have a rare opportunity to integrate their perspectives and questions into sessions that examine ERM selection and operation.
Beginning with discussions of the benefits and uses of ERMs, as well as selection criteria, the sessions move to project-specific implementation, including workflow/staffing, usage, reports, and case studies.
- Day One
On day one you will learn about the beginning stages of the process: from the benefits and uses of ERMs to how to choose one and issues of interoperability with ILS systems. - Day Two
During the second day you will hear about project-specific implementations, including what kinds of reports can be created, implementation case studies, and workflow concerns.
Audience
Attendees will include:
- Technical services librarians (the people implementing ERMS)
- Management-level librarians
- ERM Vendors
- Publishers
