NISO will continue our successful new program we introduced to you last year, Working Group Connections LIVE! These events will be free and open to all, and registrations will be managed through an RSVP survey. There is no limit to attendance, and information on how to participate in these webinars will be listed on the event page.
The NISO Working Groups are an integral part of advancing best practices and information standards in the library community. The groups are comprised of volunteers in the library, vendor, and publisher communities who may all have a specific interest in protocols, initiatives, and other related projects. NISO strives to engage these groups by forming working groups and coming together around issues and challenges that impact the entire community.

Project Transfer for Librarians: Making Your Life Easier When Titles Change Hands

- NISO has developed a quick tutorial, How to Participate in a NISO Web Event. Please view the recording, which is an overview of the web conferencing system and will help to answer the most commonly asked questions regarding participating in an online Webex event.
- You will need a computer for the presentation and Q&A.
- Audio is available through the computer (broadcast) and by telephone. We recommend you have a set-up for telephone audio as back-up even if you plan to use the broadcast audio as the voice over Internet isn't always 100% reliable.
- Please check your system in advance to make sure it meets the Cisco WebEx requirements. It is your responsibility to ensure that your system is properly set up before each webinar begins.
What is the Transfer Code of Practice? Why was it developed? How does it benefit librarians?
The Transfer Code of Practice is maintained by a unique group formed of librarians, publishers, subscription agencies and other intermediaries, from both the United Kingdom and the United States. The code contains consistent guidelines to aid publishers and librarians when a journal title transfers from one publisher to another. Transfer originated with the United Kingdom Serials Group (UKSG) but was moved under the auspices of NISO in the past year.
It’s not just for publishers! Many librarians are unaware of the Transfer tools and how they might be of use to them. This webinar will provide attendees with an overview of the code, its history and purpose, results of a recent survey on awareness of the code, and a discussion of how librarians can incorporate Transfer tools into their existing e-journals workflow.

Elizabeth Winter is Head of Collection Acquisitions & Management (tech services) at Georgia Tech Library in Atlanta, GA. She chairs program planning for Electronic Resources & Libraries and co-chairs NISO’s Transfer Standing Committee. Elizabeth is an instructor for the ALA ALCTS Fundamentals of Electronic Resource Acquisitions course and a member of the editorial boards for Serials Review and Collaborative Librarianship.
Jennifer Bazeley, Interim Head, Technical Services, King Library, Miami University
Jennifer Bazeley has a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in viola performance, and an MLIS from Dominican University in Illinois. She has worked in technical services at the Field Museum library in Chicago and the Cincinnati Art Museum library. Since 2009, she has worked for the Miami University Libraries in Oxford, OH, where she is currently the Interim Head of Technical Services.
