Dear Dushyant,
Thank you for the question you recently posed regarding the proper formatting
of the Amount element within the NCIP version 2 protocol. I believe that you
have identified a defect in the documentation. In version 2.0, all of the
Scheme/Value pair elements were replaced with an optional scheme attribute and
a simple string value. In other words, what in version 1.x was:
<Amount>
<CurrencyCode>
<Scheme>SomeSchemeURI</Scheme>
<Value>SomeValueForCurrencyCode</Value>
</CurrencyCode>
<MonetaryValue>TheAmountAsAnInteger</MonetaryValue>
</Amount>
would in version 2.0 be:
<Amount>
<CurrencyCode Scheme="SomeSchemeURI">SomeValueForCurrencyCode</CurrencyCode>
<MonetaryValue>TheAmountAsAnInteger</MonetaryValue>
</Amount>
The example you cited from Implementation Profile 1 may be one that was
overlooked during the final editing process. The NCIP Implementers Group
(NCIP-IG) will make a record of the defect and see that it is corrected in a
future revision.
Again, thank you for bringing this to our attention. Also, we encourage you to
sign up for the NCIP general interest list serve. That list serves as a forum
where people like you who have an interest in implementing NCIP can exchange
information and ask questions of one another. You are welcome also to join the
NCIP Implementers Group. That group meets by phone once each month and in
person twice each year. If you are interested, you may contact me
(rwalsh@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx), Gail Wanner (gail.wanner@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx), or Karen
Wetzel (kwetzel@xxxxxxxx).
Sincerely,
Rob Walsh
