In the tag library pages for @start_date (http://jats.nlm.nih.gov/articleauthoring/tag-library/1.1d3/attribute/start_date.html), it would be nice to have a brief description of the format. What is currently there is 'as defined in NISO RP-22-2015, “Access License and Indicators”', but I'd suggest adding the text from that spec directly:

"the start date should adhere to ISO-8601 and be in the format YYYY-MM-DD, without inclusion of a time or time zone."

It would be more convenient for users, so they wouldn't have to go look up the ALI spec.

This comment is not germane to the the JATS Standard; it is related to the informal non-normative supporting documentation. (That said, thank you for the comment; we will pass it on to the maintainers of the supporting documentation.)
