I would like to request that the volume tag be allowed to repeat in article-meta in the Archiving tag set.

The existing model does not allow volume to repeat but I have examples from a journal that published articles under two volumes--one a cumulative volume and one under a "New Series" title (example submitted with comment as multi-volume.gif; also available at https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B6MQUWovAMjaVW1xQ1ZRbVZPSEk/edit?pli=1).

I would like to be able to tag the article meta with the following:

170

I bellieve this parallels the tagging that is described for capturing multiple issues identified for a single article:

270

Additionally, the @content-type and @specific-use attributes are already available on the volume element, which I think only really makes sense on elements that can repeat.

Standing Committee Recommendation 2014-09-23:

  • The JATS Standing Committee agreed that should be repeatable and should parallel in the use of @content-type to differentiate volumes. John Meyer provided additional samples in support of this request that will be used as illustrations.
  • Volume id and issue-id can be external identifiers, so the might-link attributes will be added to their attribute lists.

Standing Committee Recommendation 2014-19-14:

  • In the October 14th meeting, the Standing Committee added Publishing to the scope of this request.
