The current implementation of JATS is:

(rb, (rt | (rp, rt, rp))+)

But according to our implementation, this may not match the proposed implementation of in HTML5 whichi is due later this year, and consider introducing to markup multiple ruby descriptions to .  This will not be consistent to our current implementation.

Submitter Proposed Solution

Thus it is safer at this point not to allow multiple declarations of a single , i.t., to make it:

(rb, (rt | (rp, rt, rp)))

so that we will be able to expand the definition in any direction in the future when HTML5 definition is finalized.

This request is denied, because this change would be backwards incompatible and the current model is easily made into the current HTML5 (Proposed Recommendation) form using XSLT.
