Were the comments from the ALA MW2009 focus groups recorded? Are they available for review by BITC members?

A procedural question for NISO staff regarding action items in timeline - is the working group publishing a final report to the standards community, or delivering a final report with recommendations to NISO? Wouldn't it be up to NISO to also solicit member comment on the final report?

Yes, the comments were indeed recorded, and are available in a document in the ERM discussion folder in the group's site, at: http://www.niso.org/apps/org/workgroup/businfo/document.php?document_id=1629. You can see other notes from calls leading up to the proposal in that same ERMI folder: http://www.niso.org/apps/org/workgroup/businfo/documents.php?folder_id=372

The proposal is to create a report to put in front of this committee to determine next steps; it will however, be published publicly at the same time for the community. It will be up to this committee to determine if additional member feedback will be needed (the proposal includes a survey of the information community to inform the report) and, if so, to reach out tho NISO's members for feedback (with NISO's assistance), and then determine next steps. I imagine, however, that when we publish the final report (if the proposal is approved), that we will set up a comment form and, likely, a comment period to solicit member and nonmember feedback alike.

Let me know if you all have any questions based on these comments and responses. As I mentioned, I'm sure Tim and Ivy will also be able to weigh in and determine if we should adjust the proposal to make sure that this information is clear in that, as well. If this answers the comment sufficiently, the next steps will then be to move forward with a ballot.
