It is suggested by JATS that multilingual description of cited references shall be done via repeating individual elements within either or . In the case of European/American articles, this practice will probably work well, because only a few elements, such as article titles or possibly journal titles should be in multi-lingual. For Japanese, and probably for Chinese articles, we need to transliterate almost all elements except numerals, and thus effort for coding and rendering becomes extensive. And sometimes we need to add extra elements in either English or Japanese data, such as original languages or locations of publication/meetings for books/conferences, because those are obvious and should be omitted in one of those languages. This would create additional burden for rendering. Supporting File: |
