Unlike sections 4.2 & 4.3, this section does not rank options nor, like section 4.3, does it clearly describe the advantages and disadvantages of the options. A ranking would be helpful that emphasizes closed containers that protect materials from the elements. Preservation departments are sent quite a few items every year that get wet during transportation because there are no lids on the items.

Correctly packing containers should also be added. Incorrect packing during shipping is one of the most common ways library materials are damaged. The milk crates in Figure 11 appear to have books tossed in, and the crates themselves do not appear to be stacked evenly. Packing items carefully, such as in the blue crate in the picture to the right, protects items and keeps them from shifting.
