Durable Hardcover Binding for Books
Developed in response to concerns expressed by librarians and publishers regarding the durability of modern binding techniques, this standard establishes specifications for hardcover book bindings. Methods and materials described are compatible with what can be efficiently produced in a modern book manufacturing facility. Included are specifications for grain direction of paper, width of inner margins, attachment of pages, preparation of spine, construction of case, and selection of material.
