11 - Return Date in Checkin

In Offline Checkin (05), I'm not sure what the TD and RD fields are for. The description seems to say that the TD field is what I would expect the RD field to be. This at least needs clarification. In Checkin (09), I'm not sure why TD and RD are both needed. Won't they always be the same?
